Hi Guys,
I have a 2004 M3 and the battery light went off yesterday. On my way to get it inspected, the car shut off and luckily the local auto store was only 1 block away. After having them look, it was determined that my Voltage Regulator is at fault. They aren't 100% sure whether or not my Alternator is at fault as well.
I don't want to take any chances and replace both of them. I've been reading and looking online and want to purchase the Bosch Alternator (regulator is included). However, my car has a Valeo and it is my understanding that the only difference between these two is the pulley size.
To those people who've already gone through this, what I'd like to confirm are the following:
1) Do mount points and connectors on the Bosch match up exactly as the Valeo? Is any custom modification required?
2) If I buy the Bosch unit, do I also need a compatible pulley and belt?
3) Or do I have to buy another Valeo as the replacement? If yes, is it worth taking a risk and buying only the regulator and test?
Do you guys have any other ideas/thoughts/suggestions?
