Hey, I have stage one bav audio speaker and feel the system now that the clarity issues have been addressed. Needs much more bass!! I have researched sound dampening in depth and know this need be done. but till then, I enjoy the stock deck look and don't want to change it. So I installed a punch 12" and an old amp I had laying around in an enclosed box custom made with Rockford specs in mind from there website specifically for the sub. I used an inline convertor to convert the speaker inputs to the outputs needed for my amp(basic) BUT, I now just finished that install and am unsatisfied with the clarity of the bass. Like it is not spot on or doesn't resonate the proper frequencies. IDK!! Not knowledgeable enough in the subject to know what to do. Is there a cheap equalizer I could use and if so, how do I tune it? I'm up for any suggestions!!!

cant get into my car
so i have a 2002 bmw 330i and just today i havent been able to get into my car.
I have the key, so its not locked into the vehicle. but whenever i put the key into the door and turn it, nothing happens. theres no tension like there normally would be to lock/unlock the doors.
i highly doubt the battery is dead, as there have been times i have had the battery drained, but i would still feel the tension of the locks trying to unlock.
as most should know there isnt any other locks on other doors to attempt. its just the drivers door only.
and for whatever reason my key does not fit into the trunk. so i cant unlock the trunk either.
i had a basic locksmith guy come out and try, but he couldnt get the doors to open.
im wondering what my options are?
should i just drill a hole into the trunk and climb into my car from there?

Dice Ipod Integration Kit Question
I have a 2002 Business CD player that does not have the six disc cd changer. I was wondering if anyone had experience using a Dice Ipod Integration Kit with this set up. Is it possible to connect the kit without the cd changer? I also have heard that the 2002 year did not have aux compatibility, would this make it not possible?

Hard time shifting into 2nd gear..
Lately I've been noticing that shifting from first to second seems like it takes more work than shifting into any other gear. It almost feels like it doesn't want to shift into second like it rolls into gear instead of sliding into it. Also sometimes it takes a time or two to shift into reverse when I first get into my car. Anyone know what could be the cause of all this? Btw it's a 2002 325ci with 102k on the dash. 5 Spd of course.

In the process of changing out the rear wheel bearing. How do you remove the brake cable out of the rear drum brake?
2003 SMG Problem
Pulling my hair out please help. My M3 will go into reverse as well as first and second gears normally. When shifting to third manually the car goes to O and powers down. After turning off and restarting it will do the same thing again. However if I place it in auto mode it drives normally through all of the gears. I have tried a new salmon colored relay with no changes. Indy shops say hydraulic pumps needs replacing without even looking at car. I pulled codes P0944 and P1716. Any ideas as to what is causing problem?

Xenons pointed down after AE installation
Hi guys,
I just installed Angel eyes in my '06 M3 and noticed that my headlights are now pointed down more than a little. Before the install they were perfect.
What do you think I did wrong to cause this? Also, which one specifically is the vertical adjuster for my headlights, in case I need to adjust. I've googled it and been getting conflicting information. Sorry for a dumb question, but I'm only a beginner. Thanks in advance.

Car wash.. ratchet strap.. large gallery of photos
So at the title states, I decided to get my car washed. Since there's been so much snow here in Indiana, I decided that a normal car wash wouldn't do enough, and that I needed the assistance of a ratchet strap to really chisel off the salt. So I went to the local car wash and ordered just that!
Summary: went through car wash, ratchet strap tangled in side brushes, now it looks like someone shot the side of my car with deer slugs.
..okay, so I'm full of ****. I went to the car wash to get the salt off the car and there was a truck in front of me. NBD, except about half way through the wash, I heard a loud BANG on the side of my front fender. I was curious at first, but figured my wheel had really banged the side of the car wash guide, and that I was going to have a messed up wheel. Awesome.
Then I heard another bang. And another. After the third bang, I realized something metallic was hitting my car with extreme force. I laid on the horn, but by the time the machines had stopped and the workers got to my car, the spinning side brushes were already at my rear bumper.
What had happened was simple. The jackass in the truck ahead of me had a ratchet strap that had come loose and gotten tangled in the spinning side brushes, and was flapping wildly against anything. When I pulled out of the car wash, the jackass in the truck sped off as soon as he saw me get out of my car, with a look of horror on my face.

I'm getting the damage assessed in a few minutes by a body shop the local BMW dealer recommended. I'm going to insist they replace everything with OEM parts, regardless of costs. As far as I'm concerned, it has OEM parts now, they shouldn't skip on putting non-OEM parts to repair it.
I've talked to the car wash and have been given a verbal confirmation they're going to pay to fix the damage, but I need to get that in writing. I'll be going back to the car wash once the estimate is done.
Do you guys have any other suggestions or tips as to things to watch out for, things I should mention, or things that I need to have explicitly stated? Since there's a pretty deep ding on an A-Pillar, will they consider this structural damage? I really hope it's not totaled. I love this car more than anything.

Door will not open
After searching the forums and Google in general I found a lot of information that has helped me poke around for potential fixes, but nothing has worked yet so I'm just going to ask in case someone has quick answer at hand.
I recently adjusted the little screw on my driver's side door to regain some ease to opening my door however after doing so, the door just does not open at all from the outside at all. It does feel like there is some tension, but it might just be in my head. Is this a zip tie fix or will I need to replace the handle?

Cleaning intake manifold
I'm in the process of replacing the oil separator and all 4 associated lines.
The lower portion of the intake manifold (where the metal butterfly valve is) is sparkling clean, but the upper portion (where the DISA is) has a layer of 'crud' and so does this plastic rail thing (picture). Can you clean this without removing the intake, if so how? Just spray brake cleaner in there? Put everything back together and put SeaFoam in the crankcase, then immediate oil change?

I recently had a tire blow out on me on the road by hitting a pothole so needed to buy a new tire went with all four. The mechanic with me noticed that only 1 of y wheels are a 17x 8.5 and the 3 are 17 x 7.5 is that a problem? The tire that blew out was the 17 x 8.5...

Repair scratch thats down to metal FAIL
Hi Guys,
So other day I was washing the 330ci and noticed a scratch on the arch that was down to the metal and was slightly peeling so instantly I thought I better get that protected or itss going to spread.
The car is Mystic Blue A07 so I went onto ebay and ordered this Scratch Doctor paint that was the correct code etc... Received it this morning and started to work with it. I sanded it down and prepared properly and then started to apply the base coat at first I thought mmm this looks kinda dark but then I thought once it dried it might get lighter.....it did not so now I have a dark splodge on my paint which quite frankly looks worse !!
It was perfectly smooth and the lacquer was great it just was not the right colour.
So my question is should I go and buy genuine touch up paint from BMW and give it another bash ?Do you think the Scratch Doctor version was not the exact match of Mystic Blue A07 ?
If not I will just get it resprayed as things like marks and scratched piss me right off !!

Car shuts off immediately after startup, then runs fine ?
I'm confused. For the past week or so, my car has decided to shut off immediately after startup, then after the 2nd startup comes on fine. Today, I noticed it struggled to come on the 2nd attempt. For the rest of the day, it seems to be fine. I also noticed a buzzing, high pitched noise coming from the rear right side, which Im assuming is the fuel pump. I have no dash lights. Anybody know whats wrong here ? Please help. Thanks.

E46 M3 Feeler: OEM Sachs Shocks (15k miles) with OEM Springs for E46 M3 Coupe
I'm considering selling my replacement Sachs shocks and OE springs because I'm moving on to coils. The shocks are almost new, purchased in June 2013 and have about 15k miles on them. The springs are also newer, I bought them used from another member and they now have a total of about 70k miles on them. They are still on the car, but I will try and get some pictures of them. These are them before I installed them...
I paid about $435 for all four shocks plus shipping from FCPeuro. Plus I paid something like $100 for the springs. I can also include the front mounts, as well as a set of Bimmerworld rear shock mounts with these if the buyer wants at an additional fee.

DIY for CCFL Halos? Anyone Know of one about the wiring
Im looking to install the ccfl halos on a e46 sedan with halogen headlights. Not sure how or where to wire them to if i can have them come on unstead of the daytime running lights and still stay on with headlight switch on. any help is appreciated
engine not starting after P0170-P0173-P1188-P1189
Last week I was driving my 2000 323i (with over 240,000 miles) and the SES light came on. Immediately the engine started running rough and I had a real lack of power. I limped it to a parking lot and shut it off. I tried to start it again and it would not start. The engine would crank but not fire. Later I towed it home and hooked up my scanner and got the following codes: P0170-P0173-P1188-P1189.
After some research it seemed to point to my CCV system failing although I was still puzzled why it wouldn't start.
The tube from my CCV to my dipstick had a gaping crack in it so yesterday I replaced the CCV, all hoses and the intake tubes for good measure. I cleared the codes and tried to start it again. The engine still wouldn't start and now there are no codes.
I haven't had a chance to check fuel pressure yet but I did do a small shot of starting fluid into the intake tubes (after the MAF) and the engine still didn't fire. No codes and no start. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do next?

The event is put on by the Northstar chapter of the BMW CCA every year. I highly recommend going to an event like this. :thumbsup: It's great practice for slippery situations you might encounter on regular roads. For me, it was also an opportunity to familiarize myself with AWD since I'd never driven an AWD car before buying this one.

318i N42B20 oil pan and profile-gasket replacement?

Was at the car service today and did routine check to my 318i N42B20. They noticed oil at following places:
- oil pan gasket;
- profile-gasket;
- oil filter / heat exchanger gasket.
Ordered required gaskets and decided to change them my own. As far as I can remember (from changing the chain and guide rails) removing the oil pan was pain in the ass. Since I did it around 3-4 years ago cannot remember precisely how long time it did took.
So questions are:
a) is it worth to do it yourself? can do all of it only during the upcoming Saturday;
b) how ling time approximetaly might it take?
c) is there a DIY guide? tried to google, did not manage to find anything related to it.
Oh, also need to replace the stabilizer. That's easy. And front light reflector (bought new light, going to be quicker).

E46 Fog Light Installation Question!
I am looking to install fog lights on my 323i.. I viewed a DIY for it and I was wondering what kind of headlight switch I need to buy with the fogs. I've been looking on Ebay and there are some switches that have the whole LCM (which I know requires coding since that stores the mileage), or there are switches about an inch thick that look like just the faceplate... can you tell me which I will need? Thanks!!

I have a 2003 gauge cluster I had to replace cause well. Im not the best solderer.. and tried to repair. So I had to buy a replacement cluster.. works fine just i have that tamper dot and my mileage jumped up near 40K which im sure is the reason it is causeing it to be on. this has that m50280 chip is thats what its called in it..
is anyone here experianced in doing this fix? I can take screen shots with my PA soft to prove the mileage and vin that i need programed in this cluster is correct and that im not trying anything illegal.. just trying to get it back to normal, with no darn dot!
I would have some local place swap chips however the swap yard took my old cluster in exchange and well i was being stupid and didnt think about "hey i need that chip"?! so if anyone out there can do this I can easily send this cluster and pay you for the time.. My car is not being driven for roughly another month due to winter, and im doing some subframe work so i can spare the cluster now.. if anyone can help please PM me. oil on front differential
I have oil on my front diff and on the driver side of my engine block. I know my oil filter gasket is bad (part in transit now) and I've heard that the oil separator can go bad or crack. I've owned many BMWs and have always replaced the OS at inspection 2 (before it failed) so I don't really know what the symptoms of a bad OS are.
I'm nearly 100% sure it's not the pan gasket or axle seals.
I can remove the oil fill cap on the valve cover and the engine runs as it does with the cap on. (I know it should stall or run poorly)

In April 2009, my husband was shot six times in front of me in the middle of a busy restaurant by a man who was stalking me. I have a permit to carry a handgun but because of the law at that time in my home state of Tennessee, I had to leave the gun that I normally carried for self defense, locked in my car that night.
My husband Ben and I ran our mobile karaoke business out of a restaurant that served alcohol and my gun was forbidden there. I obeyed the law but my stalker, who was carrying a gun illegally, ignored it.
I noticed my stalker (a former karaoke customer) in the crowd that night and I knew something was not right. This was a man that I had blocked from my social network account due to inappropriate messages he had sent me.
He had never threatened me or my husband but he was definitely creepy.
My husband Ben had asked him to leave me alone before he showed up at this venue where I had never seen him before.
I realized at that point I was being stalked.
I asked the management at the restaurant to remove him.When they approached him and asked him to leave, he pulled out a .45 semi-auto and shot Ben. He then stood over him and continued to fire five more rounds into my husband.
I could only watch in horror and helplessness.
Since that terrible night I have learned that gun free zones are a predator's playground. This is where my stalker found us and where we were defenseless.
We all have a fight or flight response when we sense danger. We make decisions based on the options we have at that moment. Decisions must sometimes be made in a matter of seconds.
My only option that night was flight. Fight was not something I would have been able to follow through with because I was denied that chance. That basic human right was taken from me by a Legislature that unintentionally helped a predator hunt down his prey.
I hope that lawmakers around the nation will begin to understand that when you disarm law abiding citizens, you do not help protect law abiding citizens. Instead, you actually make it easier for those with evil intentions to be met with no little or no resistance.
In one way, I was lucky on the night my husband was shot and killed -- and so was everyone else in the restaurant. A United States Marine happened to be in the crowd, he tackled the man who killed my husband and held him until the police came.
I have been told the police arrived within 3 minutes after getting the 911 call. I can tell you that when something so terrible is happening to yourself or someone you love, even three minutes seems like an eternity. The familiar saying "when seconds count, the police are only minutes away" is very true.
I respect law enforcement. They have a very difficult job but even they know they cannot be anywhere and everywhere at anytime.
The majority of rank and file police officers I have spoken with support right to carry laws. They would much rather find an innocent person with a smoking gun and a dead bad guy than the other way around.
Unfortunately, most law enforcement officers fear speaking out in support of right to carry laws for fear of retaliation by their superiors, who, more often than not, are attuned to politics and not inclined to support self defense laws.
Then there are those who fear gun permit holders might do something wrong with a gun or hurt an innocent bystander.
I personally am more concerned about a bad guy shooting indiscriminately with no regard for innocent life rather than a permit holder who has had state certified training and fears criminal and civil penalties. Those penalties act as very real deterrents for good people. Less than one percent of permit holders ever do anything wrong with a gun. I can't think of any segment of society that is more law abiding.
It's time for law abiding people, who have taken proper legal measures to provide for their own self defense, to be allowed to carry a gun to places where they have a right to be present.
Evil can visit us anywhere. Signs posted on doors declaring "no guns allowed" do nothing to protect any of us.
Since my husband's murder, the law has been changed in the state of Tennessee. Handgun carry permit holders can now carry their guns into establishments that serve alcohol -- as long as they are not drinking alcohol and as long as the establishment has not posted a "no guns allowed" SIGN.
At least this gives law abiding citizens the ability to try to protect themselves. A right that my husband, Ben and I were tragically denied on the night he died.

NorCal - 2014 Bimmerfest Caravan

First let me say I will not be attending this year. Wife and I are expecting our first child the same day as Bimmerfest. So there was no way I could argue out of that one HAHA.

First let me say I will not be attending this year. Wife and I are expecting our first child the same day as Bimmerfest. So there was no way I could argue out of that one HAHA.
I am posting the route I lead last year for Bavarian 500 guys. There are a few people on this thread and a few others that will be taking over in my stead. To help them out I have made a signup sheet so as we get closer I can relay the information out. For 2015 I have great weekend planned which I was not able to lead this year. So if you can't make this year, next year will be a blast.

1. Drive down - Friday May 16
Drive from Northern California to Pasadena . Lunch will be in San Luis Obispo along with a fuel stop for those who need it. Dinner will be at Slater’s 50/50 for burgers, beer and stories at 7:30pm till you are tired.

Event start point:
Meet Time: 8:30am
Address: Target Parking Lot - 1790 Airline Highway, Hollister, CA 95023
Depart Time: 9:15am
Official starting point for the drive down to Pasadena. Once the drive leaves this location, we will be using the following timetables for each check point with a plus or minus 10 minute factor. If you are not at these locations, or are not with the group at the time of departure, you are on your own.
Rally Point
Meet Time: 10:15am
Address: Valero - 50940 Mesa Verde Rd, King City, CA
Depart Time: 10:00am – 10:30am
Fuel stop and restroom break. This is also the rally point for those in the Central Valley of California caravan to join the main caravan. This stop will be as fast as possible in order to keep the group on schedule for the remaining check points.

Fault (018) 12 - signal exhaust camshaft sensor - signal not plausible
Hi, I have presisting problem with my e46 m52 1998 320i.
Under 3k rmp feels like have no power. DIS say:
- (018) 12 - signal exhaust camshaft sensor - signal not plausible
- then some misfires in 6 cyl.
I have replaced both cps (intake exhaust) with used BMW parts. I have done new seal on vanos (beisansystems), but the code is still here.

This clicking noise sometimes happend to me. In this case it was exhaust solenoid. Could this solenoid cause P1397? Thanks for help, and sorry for my english :-)_a_

Journal - Restoration of an E46

I bought this used BMW cheap to cure my itch for another bimmer to drive in Yangon. Despite being relatively in good condition compared to other used cars I have seen, it still came with a handful of issues.
This is a beginning of a project car for me.
I bought this used BMW cheap to cure my itch for another bimmer to drive in Yangon. Despite being relatively in good condition compared to other used cars I have seen, it still came with a handful of issues.
- Every single rubber seal that could wear out, wore out; and can leak, is leaking!
- The driver side glass window doesn't work.
- There is a check light showing for rear right light bulbs.
- The the gearbox gaskets are so old that the gear oil is actually leaking through.
- There seems to be an overheating problem.
- The shock absorbers seem dead.
- The car is really sluggish on throttle response, handling, gear shifts.
- The BMW wheel caps on the rims are missing
- The front BMW emblem is cracked.
- The car has really horrible tinting film, that makes it nearly invisible to drive!
- The headlight angel eyes are blue. Yes, BLUE. Not kidding.
- The list goes on..
This is a beginning of a project car for me.
