New Member Check-in | Alabama

Just got my 2002 BMW 330CI today... Electric Red! Needs paint and tons of upgrades and repairs. Looking forward to joining the fun here at e46Fanatics.com

Birmingham, Alabama -

Broken mirror

Have a 2004 330ci. The mirror broke off and is hanging by a flat wire. I would like to take it off before driving it anywhere. How difficult is it to get this thing off? It's the driver side. Looks like cheap pot metal that broke. Help.

Driver's window doesn't drop 1/4 inch

On my 2004 325ci conv, my window doesn't drop 1/4 inch when door opens. Also my interior lights do not come on. The passenger side works fine. The door locks and unlocks fine when using the ignition key. Can anyone help that may know what the problem may be?

FS: facelift LED clear side markers. $25 shipped.

i have a friend with an 05 330CI. I changed his side markers from clear to smoke so his clear LED side markers are up for sale. Work perfectly. $25 shipped within the lower 48.

Electrical/Starter Brain Teaser - Help Appreciated

Ok geniuses, here's a head-scratcher for you.

I recently began having a sporadic issue with my '05 330i. My wife and I went out to dinner, came back to the car, shut the door, stuck the key in the ignition, twisted the key to turn on the engine, and everything electrical turned off simultaneously: interior lights, dashboard, etc. No click of the starter, no air conditioning, no radio, absolutely nothing. Weird. (I replaced the alternator and battery within the last 6 months, and had checked voltage/amperage levels on both the day before, so I knew that wasn't the problem.) Tried to start the engine multiple times, took the key out, put back in... nothing. No lights, no hum of the electrical system in the "ON" position, nothing. So, I open the drivers door and for whatever reason, decide just to shut the door and try again. Poof, it works. I did nothing else. I opened the door, closed the door, turned the car on and everything came back up and the engine started perfectly. Oddly, all of my electrical data had reset: clock, MPG, saved radio stations, etc. like I had completely unplugged the battery. Yet all I did was simply open and close the door. Car runs great on the drive home, we laugh it off as a gremlin and continue on with life.

Fast forward. I go a week and have no problems. Then out of nowhere, I have the same issue. I open the door, shut it again (literally doing nothing else) and the electrical system comes back on and the engine turns over. This has gone on for the last month or so, happening probably 4 or 5 times total. Today, same thing happens as I leave work, but I have to open and shut the door 3 times before whatever the problem is will make a solid connection to re-engage the electrical system and turn everything back on.

I thought ignition switch to begin with, but I can wiggle the key in the ignition til my arm is numb and that doesn't do anything. The strangest part is that it resets all of the electrical data and turns off every component.

Any ideas whatsoever? This is crazy and I have no electrical expertise in this particular area. It's like there is a loose electrical connection that is jarred awake when I shut the door. The weird part is that everything is fine when I get into the car to begin with: the interior lights are on, the doors will automatically unlock, etc, so the electrical system is on. It doesn't turn OFF until I insert the key and twist. Then I hear an audible "click" as everything turns off. I open the door (and don't shut it) and try to turn the car on and get nothing. I shut the door firmly, hear the electrical system kick back on (I can hear a hum of some sort, not sure what component it is; somewhere behind the driver side dash) and then I can stick the key in and start the car.

Program my key in the bay area

Any bay area folks around that can code a key?

I can cut and program the thing, but the transponder portion is a PITA. I don't really want to spend $80+ on a ak90.

Surely someone has one around? I'll pitch in some $ or beer or whatever, and I'll come to you.

Who here uses Cash only?

One of the regulars at our bar last night and I were talking and he was telling me how he was out celebrating paying off his car 2 years early.

I asked him what his secret was and guy told me that Cash was king. About 3 years ago he stowed away his debit card and went to cash only. He told me that when you see cash leave your hands, the sting is much more than that of a card swipe, tending him to spend less money.

Does anyone else do this? I traditionally hate cash because then you end up with coins(I'm enrolled in a change saver thing with my bank) and singles. But I guess I could see where he is coming from. Just curious who else did this with their walking around money.

EC-7 18x10" ET25

Applicable for: E9X M3, E46 M3, Z3M, Z4M

This 18x10" is one of our most popular wheels. It's the perfect solution for enthusiast looking for a square setup on an E9X M3. This application is a direct bolt on fitment when matched with most 275/35/18 tires, giving the car an aggressive look with its profile 3 concave design. Although aggressive, many track oriented customers have used this size as a square setup for their E46 M3 as well. You'll also commonly see this size used on the rear of the E46 M3, Z3M and Z4M for staggered fitments.

EC-7 18x10" ET33

Applicable for: E9X non-M (Pre-LCI only), E46 M3

This unique size allows E9X non-M (Pre-LCI) owners to run a 10" rear wheel without having any fitment issues. This rear fitment is becoming increasingly popular and certainly maximizes wheel width in the rear. Furthermore, many E46 M3 customers who would like to run a 10" square fitment, are faced with the challenge of running overly aggressive front camber specs. With that said, the 18x10 ET25 can be quite difficult to fit upfront. This 18x10 ET33 requires less negative camber than the ET25 due to its higher offset, and has the ability to fit up a 285/30/18 tires with the proper suspension.

EC-7 18x10" ET43

Applicable for: E9X non-M (pre & post LCI), E46 non-M, E36

We produced this fitment to accommodate those with an E9X non-M, specifically those with an LCI model sedan looking for the widest rear wheel possible. BMW decided to widen the rear track of the LCI model by 8mm, and this caused some rear fitment issues for customers wanting to run a 10" rear wheel. Our 18x10 ET43 allows all E9X non-M, pre & post LCI models, to run a 10" rear wheel. The 18x10 ET43 also provides E46 non-M owners the ability to run a 10" rear wheel as well, and is used on the front in extreme auto-cross and race applications with suspension modifications. Just like the E46 non-m, this high offset 10" wheel can be found on aggressively modified E36 models when a 285/30/18 tire is being used in competition.

EC-7 18x9.5" ET43

Applicable for: E9X non-M (Post LCI), E46 non-M, Z3 non-M, Z4 non-M, E36

We produced this offset to to be a direct fit on Post-LCI E90 sedans. This wheel also provides e46 non-M owners with an easy-to-fit 9.5" rear wheel as well. That fitment is similar to the non-m model of the Z3, and Z4. The 43mm offset is also ideal on the rear of the E36 where our lower offset wheels result in owners having to roll/flare fenders.

EC-7 18x9" ET31

Applicable for: E36, E46 non-M, E46 M3, E9x non-M, Z3M, Z4M

This EC-7 wheel fitment is a new size that wasn't produced for the ARC-8's, and provides a concave face that compliments the modern lines of BMW's. The 18x9" ET31 is a popular wheel to be used on the front of the E46 M3, E9x non-M, due to it's flushness with the fender without the need of spacers, while also providing better clearance for coilovers that utilize V-shaped progressive springs. This is the narrowest wheel with Profile 2 concavity. The low offset can be a trickier fit on some applications, but it's much easier than the 9.5" equivalent.

EC-7 18x9" ET42

Applicable for: E36, E46 non-M, E46 M3, E9x non-M, F30, Z3M, Z3 non-M, Z4M, Z4 non-M

A new rendition of an old fitment, this EC-7 wheel boasts a new spoke design that truly compliments the modern lines of BMW's. The 18x9" ET42 EC-7 is a great squared fitment for the E46 non-M and E36 chassis due to it's added width, allowing up to 255/35/18 sized tires. This wheel is gaining popularity for the F30 chassis as a squared track fitment since the EC-7 design flows well with the F30 chassis and is a direct fitment for even stock cars. E9X non-M owners can also use this application for a performance oriented square setup but will require a front spacer.

ARC-8 18x9" ET42

Applicable for: E36, E46 non-M, E46 M3, E9x non-M, F30, Z3M, Z3 non-M, Z4M, Z4 non-M

A classic wheel for BMW's that have a long race inspired heritage, this lightweight wheel remains a popular choice for enthusiasts everywhere. The 18x9" ET42 ARC-8 is a great squared fitment for the E46 non-M and E36 chassis due to it's added width, allowing up to 255/35/18 sized tires. This wheel is also gaining popularity for the F30 chassis as a squared track fitment since due to its lightweight construction. E9X non-M owners can also use this application for a performance oriented square setup.

ARC-8 18x8.5" ET38

Applicable for: E36, E46 non-M, E46 M3, E9x non-M, F30, Z3M, Z3 non-M, Z4M, Z4 non-M

A classic wheel for BMW's that have a long race inspired heritage, this lightweight wheel is one of our most popular sizes. The 18x8.5" ET38 is a great easy to fit wheel on the front of the E36, E46 non-M, E46 M3, E9x non-M, F30, Z3M, Z3 non-M, Z4M, and Z4 non-M cars. Almost every car can fit this wider than stock wheel without issue. This wheel is a popular squared wheel for the E36 and E46 non-M, as well as gaining popularity with the F30 for an easy direct fitment that does not require major fender modifications or additional negative camber. This lightweight wheel has become a track and autocross favorite over the years.

Vacuum Exhaust Valve

I have a 2001 330i and the exhaust flap is staying open. I have read a lot about these flaps and I know a lot of people will tell me to forget about it and leave it open but for several reasons I want it to work. I have removed the solenoid from its housing in the boot and I've pulled the vacuum pipes off it. I put my finger over the tube, I expected it to suck quite hard on my finger but there was virtually no vacuum, there was a little bit but nothing like I expected and I think this is the reason for the none closing flap. I have sucked on the tube that goes to the flap and had to suck quite hard but the flap did close. There is nowhere near enough suction from the pipe to close the flap. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what might be going on as I'm struggling to follow the pipe forward further than what I can see in the small corner of the boot.

Looking into buying a different car and I need some input.

Hi Fanatics,

Lately I’ve been in the market to buy a different car and for some reason I’ve always been fascinated by the unmarked cruises and I was wondering how illegal could it be own a lookalike? I’ve heard mixed stories on why they could be illegal or why they’re not illegal but I could never find a definite answer. I’m also aware that you cannot use the red and blue lights or horn but I was told if you’re parked and your cars is turned off then you can at a car show? I dunno I was hoping someone here would have some knowledge of this. Oh and by the way I’ve listed below what I would do to the car.

2004 325Xi STIFF SUSPENSION

Hi everyone. I own a 2004 325Xi for a little over 6 years. The suspension seems to have always been stiffer than other bimmers of its class. Can anyone give recommendations on how to get a smoother ride. Maybe shocks and/or springs of a specific brand at a reasonable price. If possible, I would like my 3 series to ride as comfortable as a 5 series. Thanks in advance.

TORONTO -- A rare $1-million super car belonging to a local TV personality went up in flames Sunday, and the blaze was captured on video.

Michael Wekerle, one of the judges on the CBC television show Dragon's Den, saw his brand new Porsche 918 Spyder catch fire at an Esso gas station in Caledon, northwest of Toronto, according to a CBC statement.

It is the first Porsche of its kind in Canada, with a limited global supply of 918 vehicles.

Wekerle -- described on the show's website as a "rock star in the world of Canadian finance" -- was filling up at the station when some drops of gas leaked, resulting in a fire that destroyed his new ride, according to the CBC statement. He had just picked it up at the beginning of September.

Aftermarket double din instead of satnav and HK

Need some advice on fitting an aftermarket double din unit to an e46 with a sat nav unit and harmon kardon sound system.

I've done a few double dins in e46's before so i'm familiar with hacking the air box and making a bracket, however these cars didn't have sat nav units or harmon kardon.

What i need to know is, can this be done? the cabling looks different and and there's no arial.

Exhaust question...

Some people have been commenting that my exhaust sounds weird / loud / different.

After one person mentioned it, I got in my car and left the door open and it did sound a lot raspier then usual. I rev'ed it for a bit and it seemed like it went back to normal. Now people are saying it sounds weird again lol.

Carbon build up in the exhaust?

Anyway to clean it up? or does the cat or exhaust need to be replaced?

No check engine light or anything...

BMW on the podium again in the ninth DTM race at Zandvoort.

”dtm zandvoort”

Zandvoort (NL), 28th September 2014. DTM champion Marco Wittmann (DE) and Martin Tomczyk (DE) finished second and third to take their places on the podium after the penultimate race of the season in Zandvoort (NL). Wittmann’s second place and sixth for Maxime Martin (BE) were sufficient to seal the Team title for BMW Team RMG with one race still to come. Martin also secured the title of ‘Rookie of the Year’. Read here what BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt, the team principals and the eight drivers had to say after the ninth race of the season.

Jens Marquardt (BMW Motorsport Director):

“That was an extremely eventful race. The many safety car periods made it difficult to keep track of what was going on at times. We were constantly having to change our strategy, and the last few laps came down to a sprint. We are obviously happy to have two drivers on the podium. Marco Wittmann and Martin Tomczyk produced great performances and kept cool heads at all times. I am particularly pleased for Martin. He earned his reward for all his hard work today. At the same time, he confirmed the continuous improvement in his performances in recent races, and ended his long wait for a podium. Maxime Martin also had a great race and has already earned the title of ‘Rookie of the Year’. We are also delighted for BMW Team RMG, who won the Team competition today with one race to go. Congratulations to Mattias Ekström and Audi on their win.”

Stefan Reinhold (Team Principal, BMW Team RMG):

“After the race at the Lausitzring, today was another of this season’s highlights. We are all overjoyed. This is the reward for all the hard work of the last few weeks, months and years. We also showed that we can land both cars near the front of the field. Marco Wittmann has obviously been outstanding this year. However, Maxime Martin has also performed very strongly as a rookie in 2014, and not only at his win in Moscow. He fought back very well today and also scored a superb result. We will now continue to push hard to ensure that BMW still leads the Manufacturers’ Championship after the finale in Hockenheim.”

Charly Lamm (Team Principal, BMW Team Schnitzer):

“This podium feels really good, especially after the recent races. It was an absolute joy to see Martin Tomczyk on the podium, and I am overjoyed for him and the entire team. Everyone worked very hard for that. It is also important, with regard to the Manufacturers’ Championship, that we were able to support BMW with Martin’s points. Furthermore, our crew also performed the fastest pit stop of the entire race on his car. Our guys can be proud of that. Luck was not on Bruno Spengler’s side. He was on a very promising strategy, given the many safety car period. He was on course to finish in the points, but then came the incident with Jamie Green and the ensuing penalty. Congratulations to Stefan Reinhold and his team, who have now crowned a great season with the Team title.”

Bart Mampaey (Team Principal, BMW Team RBM):

“We had a big crash with Augusto Farfus, and Joey Hand was also driving a damaged car. Our strategy worked really well for him. We switched from options to the harder prime tyres early on. However, you soon find yourself dropping back through this close field, in which DRS is used for overtaking, if your pace is no longer 100 per cent. Congratulations to BMW Team RMG on winning the Team title. They have had a sensational season.”

Ernest Knoors (Team Principal, BMW Team MTEK):

“It has been a rather disappointing season for our team, as we always have a quick car and do a good job, but are lacking the necessary slice of luck in the races. Sure, we have also made mistakes, but we now need that little bit of luck to get the results that are actually possible. Congratulations to BMW Team RMG on winning the Team title. They have done a superb job, and you could see that everything works nicely when you are on a run. BMW now has a good chance to seal the Manufacturers’ title in Hockenheim. We want to do our bit.”

Marco Wittmann (car number 23, BMW Team RMG, 2nd):

Tyres: Option-Prime

“It was a crazy race with a lot of safety car periods. I got off to a great start and pulled ahead of Mike Rockenfeller. However, my option tyres degraded very quickly after that, and I was unable to maintain my pace. I then made a mistake braking into turn one, so Rocky was able to pass me again. After that my team did an awesome job and brought me into the pits early for the tyre change. That was absolutely the right decision. You obviously also need a bit of luck when there are that many safety car periods. We had that. I am proud that we are now also Team champions after winning the Drivers’ Championship. That is the reward for the great job we’ve done this season. Congratulations to my team-mate Maxime Martin on the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title. I am happy with second place in today’s race. That is a great day. The Manufacturers’ title is still up for grabs at the finale in Hockenheim. I am very motivated and want to end the year with a good result.”

Martin Tomczyk (car number 10, BMW Team Schnitzer, 3rd):

Tyres: Option-Prime

“It is very satisfying to get back on the podium after such a long time. I have had some tough times. Today, I was finally able to prove that I can still make it onto the podium when everything comes together. Thank you to BMW and BMW Team Schnitzer for the support I have always had here. I am very happy to have turned things around here in Zandvoort, at one of my favourite circuits. It was a spectacular race, particularly for the spectators. The pace was good throughout the entire race. To finish third today is almost a form of redemption.”

Maxime Martin (car number 24, BMW Team RMG, 6th):

Tyres: Prime-Option

“That is a magnificent day for me and my team. The weekend did not exactly get off to a great start for us. We had a minor technical problem in qualifying. In contrast, we had a bit of luck on our side in today’s race. However, you need that in motor racing. We scored important points and have been crowned Team champions with a race to spare. I am delighted for the guys at BMW Team RMG. After the two difficult years the team had behind it, I am very happy that they have finally been rewarded for their efforts. My team-mate Marco Wittmann is DTM champion. I won the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title today. I am proud to be recognised as the best newcomer in this fiercely-contested series. All that is missing now is the Manufacturers’ title for BMW. We want to seal that in Hockenheim.”

Joey Hand (car number 4, BMW Team RBM, 11th):

Tyres: Option-Prime

“It was a difficult day. Even at the start we did not have the right pace on the option tyres, and I found myself stuck in the pack. You are vulnerable when you are constantly having to defend, and that was the case with me today. I was hit relatively hard after the first safety car period, when I was still on the options. That caused damage to my car, and it was very difficult to drive after that. I was then just trying to stick with it, as you can never give up. Despite all the problems, I was still determined to finish – with all the retirements today, I could even have ended up in the points.”

Timo Glock (car number 17, BMW Team MTEK, 13th):

Tyres: Option-Prime

“We actually had a good car this weekend, but we were completely lacking the luck we needed to convert our performance into a good result. I could not find first gear at the start of the installation lap. I had to let the entire field past. It was very eventful after that, but unfortunately we did not benefit from that either. Congratulations to BMW Team RMG on winning the Team title, but also to Martin Tomczyk on a strong race. He really deserves this success.”

António Félix da Costa (car number 18, BMW Team MTEK, 14th):

Tyres: Option-Prime

“It was another character-building race. I have learned a lot for the future. Our pace was promising on the option tyres. I had the feeling that I was competitive and could catch the guys ahead of me. However, I had problems with the balance again when we switched to primes. We now have a bit of time before the season finale. Hopefully we can solve our problems and enjoy a successful final race of the season.”

Bruno Spengler (car number 9, BMW Team Schnitzer, 17th):

Tyres: Prime-Option

“I didn’t actually have a bad race – apart from my penalty after the collision with Jamie Green. I don’t understand it. We have had similar situations in previous races, for which no penalties were handed out.”

Augusto Farfus (car number 3, BMW Team RBM, DNF):

“I was hit from behind by Daniel Juncadella. It was a really big impact, and I think he got his braking completely wrong. The incident was a shame and brought my race to an early end. I was lucky: when I saw the wall coming towards me I thought I was going to hit it head on. Fortunately, however, I hit it side on.”

" Refreshing " suspension. What do I need?

I previously made a thread talking about how I'm running stock suspension at 177k miles. Now, for the record, I don't have a bad driving experience, but I also don't know what the car handles like with fresh components. What would you say is the bare minimum ?

Would this be necessary?

- Meyle Control Arm kit

- Meyle HD front bar sway link ( 2)

- Meyle HD rear shock mount (2)

- Meyle HD inner ball joint ( 2)

- Meyle HD outer ball joint (2)

- OEM Strut mounts ( 2)

I'm looking at ~$615 with all of this, and another ~$300 for the Koni STR.T shocks/struts.

My question is, do I really need all of this? Could I get away with less and still get significant improvement on reliability and performance?

Sent from BimmerApp mobile app

Can you help me diagnose what causes this vibration sound?

My car is at 177k. Recently front brakes and suspension was done. I have also done the Control Arm Bushings, Control Arms, and the Engine mounts.

Guibo has not been done.

As you can notice there is this vibration/shake noise when the car is accelerating. I have noticed that the noise goes away when accelerating above 60 mph, but is definitely there everyctime I accelerate between 30-50 miles.

You can hear it at 5 seconds, again at 28 seconds and 57 seconds.

My 2005 330CI ZHP

Ive been around for a few months now but I have not really been able to post much lately as i've been busy with work and college.

Well I purchased an e46 330CI ZHP back a few months ago, I became the second owner of a well maintained e46 which at the time of purchase had 144k on it. Paid it off in full last month.

The car needed some maintenance here and there when I bought it but over all it was in phenomenal condition, I throughly checked out the car before purchasing it (PPI) and I also had a compression test ran on it and everything came back with great results.

-Car had a brand new battery and a brand new alternator at the time of purchase.

----------

So far i've done the following:

-Revamped the coolant system (New hoses, new expansion tank, new thermostat, new waterpump, etc) (The car had a slow coolant leak due to a bad expansion tank when I purchased it so I went ahead and changed many of the parts in order to keep peace of mind)

-Installed a new genuine BMW ZHP rack-n-pinion along with new power-steering hoses, new copper fittings, and new outer tierods. (The car had a leaky rack-n-pinion when I purchased it so I replaced it to make my car 100% leak free) Used Dexron VI full synthetic fluid for power steering.

-Aligned the car.

-New Wiper Blades.

-New Windshield cowling.

-2 new Michelin pilot sport A/S-3 tires.

-New Vacuum lines.

-New Air filter and new Cabin Air Filter.

-A/C refreshed.

-New intake boot.

-Changed the rear differential fluid with AcDelco 75-90 full synthetic fluid

-Changed the oil with a BMW oil filter and casteroil edge bmw spec full synthetic oil.

-New interior (Center-Console cup holder).

-New A/B/C pillars.

-Had every single ding/dent popped out professionally.

-Installed all new dashboard trim clips. (To stop interior rattling)

-New all season BMW floor-mats and trunk liner.

-Installed LED interior lighting kit along with LED license plate lights and LED reverse lights.

-Tinted the windows 30% all around. (I wanted to go darker but I needed to stay legal)

-Detailed the car inside and out, cleaned the bottom of the car so that it looks brand new also.

-New M3 black perforated leather steering wheel.

-Installed e46fanatic and ZHPmafia stickers because they add 50bhp each. :driving:

-Replaced various clips under the hood.

-Installed BMW OEM bluetooth kit with mic, computer module, antenna, and wiring.

-Installed BMW OEM homelink garage door opener.

-Installed BMW Oil Drain Plug cover.

-Replaced the Gas Cap / Gas Cap Tether.

-New Genuine BMW clear fender blinker light housings. (old ones looked dated)

----------

Upcoming things to do this month:

-BMW e46 Airbag recall.

-Replace exterior window rubber trim

-Change transmission Fluid & Filter

-Change Fuel Filter.

-Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines.

-Genuine BMW e46M3 strut tower braces.

-Start looking into nicer wheels.

My car coming along nicely, much progress has been made. I just hit 150k and the car feels and looks like its brand new. My favorite thing about this car would have to be the way that it handles.

Just figured id let y'all know what i've done to the car so far, its a fun project.

Figured I Should Properly Introduce Myself and the M3

I bought this about a month ago or so. 2003 with 200k miles lol. The car is mint inside and out and basically a one owner. I have every service record from day one to 196k. Bone stock and probably going to stay that way, since my wife let me keep my '95 M3 for the track only. A few months before buying it, the PO installed a new OEM suspension, brakes, rotors, calipers, new CSL wheels and Conti Extreme tires, nav, and headlights. The car is now tinted and I might sneak in Eibach Pro springs. Also, I just need to do the valve adjustment, since it was done around the 170k mark.

DISA - Cheapest place for OEM?

Cheapest I've found is $290 on ECS tuning for an OEM DISA (330CI).

Where's this noise coming from?

Front left and right ABS sensors out

Got the DSC and yellow brake light on. Pulled the codes and it shows both front speed sensors faulty. I just replaced my front right, after I got the code for it about 2-3 weeks ago. The replacement sensor is a genuine BMW sensor. Now both are showing faulty after I made a left turn on the way home from work. The codes also showed the steering angle sensor was not getting any signal. Would the ABS module or steering angle sensor cause both sensors to fault? I have new Continental DWS wheels on VMR 18' CSL reps from Modbargains that I got balanced and car alignment same day the wheels went on. I suspicious that both sensors would go out at the same time, especially after one being a new replacement no more than 3 weeks old. Steering angle sensor was recalibrated about one year ago.

2 OEM Tie Rods - $150

So I got both my tie rods done about 10k miles ago on Nov 9th 2013. I just recently changed to the ///M tie rods and no longer need them. Up for grabs for $150 shipped. Includes the boots as well. Total MSRP cost is about $300 new.

Part numbers below -

Left- 32106777503 $120 new

Right- 32106777504 $120 new

Rubber boots - 32131096910 $100 new both sides

Smoking?

I can drive my car to work just fine but then "sometimes" on the way home when I park it starts to smoke. The smoke is grayish white and looks like a cloud coming from the exhaust. The car runs perfect but the smoke every so often. Also the car doesn't over heat. It's a 2001 325i with 135,xxx miles on It. Any ideas?

E46 Convertible 2000 323Ci Convertible with 79,600 miles

Titanium Silver with grey interior and black top.

Very clean car that drives like new. Purchased last year from Bergstrom BMW with 74,500 miles and have done the following maintenance/upgrades since;

Control arm bushings

CCV

tensioner/pulley on alternator side

belts

expansion tank

new headlight lenses

clear turn signals

back up lenses

new battery

18" wheels/tires

high beam bulbs

new factory floor mats

Iggee interior kit

The only real flaws with the car are the driver seat bottom and the aftermarket stereo. Car was built with navigation and was replaced with a normal head unit. Driver's seat bottom is rough and needs to be recovered if you do not care for the Iggee fitted seat covers. The rest of the seats are good. I put the full seat cover kit in to protect the interior as the car is only driven in good weather with the top down, often sitting outside with the top down for hours. (It is not my daily driver. Just a fair weather car)

Car shows very well and most people guess it's only a few years old. Carfax is clean and there is no evidence of any body work anywhere on the car. Paint is excellent. All power options work, A/C blows cold and headlight motors work as designed with the HID option.

Transmission was replaced at 63,000 miles.

Asking $6700 obo

Looking for a quick sale so I am open to offers. Have four vehicles and not enough room for them all so this one has to go.

E46 M3 FS: 2005 M3 tastefully modded

Hey guys so I recently bought a 2005 M3 off a member on m3forum. He did a LOT of maintenance work, with receipts all included.

I had it for a few months, it's a fun car. Lots of attention, but not practical for me really. I'm 21 years old, got a lot of money, bought my dream car. But life hit me, I'd like to move out on my own, and this car isn't going to allow me to do that. So it's time to let her go.

She just rolled 100,500. Climbing as she's my daily. Never tracked. Launched once when I bought it, no need since then. Dyno'd only once. Never abused, as it's my only car.

I have powerflex 90D rear biff bushings I'll throw in, as well as TMS solid rear diff bushings, and front diff bolt. Your choice what to use.

Also not installed, TMS transmission mounts. Also 90D.

Information about the car.

2005 M3

6MT

H/K sound system

100,XXX miles

TiAg

Location: Londonderry, New Hampshire, 03053.

A few mods that are done to the car would be:

AP Headers

Jack's CPI Euro 200R

Scorza Muffler

SuperSprint X Pipe

Evolve Tune

AFE super stock intake

KW V1 coilover kit

Vorshlag camber plates

BMW Performance carbon fiber front strut brace

Rogue RTABs + RSM

It's got Orion V2 angle eyes (amber in color)

19" BBS RS/GT wheels with Continental tires (rears are junk. camber wear) (stock wheels and tires included)

Tons of carbon fiber stuff, Side grille, kidney grills, rear diffuser, smoked corners.

I also added the Avin Avant 2 headunit and I absolutely love it. The sound is so much better than with the stock head unit.

The headlights are the CBI 66240's. VERY bright.

The car was dyno'd at 312whp. It's pretty loud with the exhaust set up, I won't lie. But I personally love it.

Like I said, I'd like to move out. This car is fun, it's my dream car, but unfortunately that can't happen if I own this. So she needs a new home, although I am in no rush at all to sell.

I'm asking $23k.

2004 330ci Front Control Arm Replacement

What is a reasonable labor charge or this job?

I'm seeing prices of around $150 per side for the bracket with bushing. Sound about right?

I'm asking because the indy shop quote I received sounds really high, but I'm not sure, as I may be missing something (but I don't think I am).

Thanks.

Horrendous exhaust cabin noise

I have a 2001 330i tourer. The exhaust sounds great driving around town but on the motorway it's horrendous. The noise in the cabin gives me a headache. We went to the lake district yesterday, all our ears were hurting when we came off the motorway and then the revs increased going up all the hills and the noise got louder than on the motorway, it was just horrible, I've never driven a car that's so loud in the cabin. My son did complain that his ears hurt. Does anyone else have this kind of exhaust cabin noise, is it normal? I'm wondering if the previous owner has done something to the exhaust or does the standard system make loud cabin noise? My car has M Sport suspension so it could have an M Sport exhaust, would that make the noise I'm talking about? Is there anyway to stop the horrendous cabin noise or at least greatly reduce it?

Headlights

Anyone know what kind if headlights these are. Seems like its 2 different kinds of bulbs or something. I don't really know anything about headlights.

Thinking rear diff. will you confirm?

hey guys, I have an 00' 528i, Im aware this is not an E46, but Ive asked around some other forums with little avail.

So, as stated, 00' 528i (has 323i E46 engine if that makes you feel better about me joining your forum), any ways, for the past 1.5k or so miles ive had a grinding sound from the rear end, what sounded like a router running down aluminum. This would only occur when coasting, and feathering the throttle to maintain speed.

there was a simply remedy for this, dont feather the throttle... or turn up the radio

recently, their has been a louder grind. that happens over bumps and the sort. along with an aweful vibration, like Im riding on the rumble strip. This is mostly occuring in heavy torque situations like 2500 rpms of 2nd or 3rd.

I climbed under the vehicle and checked on the driveshaft, all weights are in place, the U joint looks healthy and the carrier bearing was as well ok. However the rear diff. is covered in old fluid indicating a previous leak, and the rear axels (that appear fine) slide in and out with no side to side wobble.

as well as when the car is in the air the rear tires (primarily passenger side) feels like a ratchet clicking, and an audible click from the diff.

any thoughts or further trouble shooting?

Weird Click ... Occasional No Start

While in park, I am getting a click in the dash. It is, however, intermittent. It sounds like it is coming from behind the light switches. When I put it in gear, the sound disappears. It has not happened for a couple weeks, until today.

It may not be related, but today, after driving the car, I stopped for about 2 minutes. When I went to start the car, it did not start, the click returned, and it seemed like the car was in a mode that did not allow anything to work (dead battery type or kill switch). After a few minutes of doing nothing, I turned the key and it started. The click returned, while in park. I moved the car and the click was gone while in drive. After driving a few minutes I shifted to park and the click disappeared again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

zf transmission from 330 into a 325?

Can you interchange transmissions? My tranny is dead and found one out of a 330. Is it safe as long as they are the same? (A5S325Z)

clicking/rattling coming from intake?

Could any of the two units below cause a clicking/rattling sound when car is idling ? Car has 154,000 miles on it and I don't think either one has been replaced.

#7=Adjuster unit

#8=T-SHAPE IDLE REGULATING VALVE

PSA: Do NOT use dryer sheets on your cabin filter as an air freshener

My AC was smelling like mold, and as a temporary solution, I decided to put dryer sheets on top of my cabin filter to freshen the scent. I did this after reading a lot of threads that suggested it works (so yes, I did search). It worked lovely for a few days, then all hell broke loose. My AC started vibrating and shaking when I turned it on. I had to disassemble my cabin filter housing and part of my firewall to get the sheets out of the back. One of them was stuck in my compressor (or so I think it's called). Not a fun way to spend an hour on the side of the road.

Now awaiting all the "you idiot" comments haha

P1542.. Replaced throttle body.. bad ECU? please Help

Okay so I've been at this for a while now.. pulled codes from my bmw 323ci (2000) and the P1542 code shows up.. furthermore I have already replaced the throttle body with one that was from a working engine.the problem with my car is when I turn it on it idles just fine... the eml and check engine lights are on. I go to give it gas and ANY slight press of the pedal results in the car choking as if it's not receiving the right mixture.. then returna back to idle at 1k rev... furthermore why I think it may be bad ecu is I cleared codes then rescaned and got multiple different codes after separate different scans that spat out .. 101 120. 601 and once even got a 1580. But the 1542 is the only constant... im at the end of my rope with this can someone help?

Sedan rear windshield defrost line damage

Its not quite yet cold up in the NE (82F) but I just noticed that either the PO or the dealer removed some stickers on the inside of the rear windshield (way at the bottom driver side) and left some residue. I was trying to remove the left over adhesive and noticed that one of the defrost bands looks like it was damaged. It looks like a thin orange string.

My question is there any way I can test if its working properly?

Also if it is damaged, can this be repaired or does the whole rear windshield need to be replaced?
