I am experiencing an odd problem. When I got my car the tail lights in my trunklid were not working due to a bad ground. I have since had the ground re-wired, but now I am seeing an intermittent problem. The right side tail light will sometimes not work.
The bulbs are new and both work 80% of the time. The other day I had the car running and needed to take a few things out of the trunk. Inoticed that the right rear light would go out when i opened the trunk and the dashboard warning light would come on. Then I'd shut the trunk and about 5 second later the light would work again. This was recreatable for three cycles. The other failure mode seems to be warm dry weather.
When this problem began I had inspected the wiring in the "elephant trunk" and everything looked fine. I guess it is possible I have developed a pinched or pierced wire since then. Could it be a failed bulb carrier? Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
