Refinishing E46 Ashtray Console

I have not been here for awhile, but came back looking for tips on removing the scratches from my console and the best way to refinish it. Google was helpful in directing me back here and I was following a thread originated by a guy in Westchester NY which was well written.

I have a good bit of experience with auto trim wood, and fine furniture finishes, so I removed the console with guidance from the tutorial, then wet sanded the pieces (yes, the doors do come off) with 400 paper, then 0000 steel wool. What I discovered is, the pieces are all black plastic, the door pieces had a basic satin or flat finish to them, then were given a top coat which softens and scratches and looks really shabby. Mine have not been touched since they came from BMW in 2001.

I was happy to find that the black plastic cleans up easily, and, the pieces look great right now. I will spray them with - no color, but a clear satin finish of some type, possibly Krylon Plastic Satin Clear with several coats, very light sanding between coats. The right way to do this would be with an artist's airbrush but as long as the pressure in the spray can is good, it should work fine.

My REAL PROBLEM is finding a parts diagram to see how to put the doors back in properly, and what the little metal pieces that fell out are for.
