Good afternoon,
Been hearing a flutter/tinny/whispy noise from my exhaust side of my engine and suspected two things. Headers were coming loose, or the blockoff plate gasket for the SAP/EGR valve was blown.
The solution was clear once I saw the gasket protruded out the bottom of the backing plate. Pictures might be telling.

Anyways, why did this happen? It seemed pretty straightforward: Place gasket over bolts, place plate over gasket on same bolts, tighten nuts, ???, Profit. The good news is the headers weren't the culprit, and that's fortunate.
Edit: Installed the blockoff late last year.
