slack handbrake on Auto

hi all, i've got a slack handbrake, lol



323ci auto with step and the handbrake is really slack...as in when i pull it up it has no real tension, brakes all seem ok, i am not really mechanically minded and with it being auto just looking for help advice and poss DiY,
