Expansion tank reservoir cap

Is it possible that the expansion tank's reservoir cap can go bad ? I have a slow but steady coolant leak coming from the neck of the expansion tank . I inspected tank to make sure there's no cracks and there aren't . Mainly because I replaced the tank about 2 months ago .
