Hey all, The name is Zak. I'm from New Mexico, but currently live south of Lubbock, Texas. I am a pre-med student and 6 year vet of the U.S. Army. I also farm 5000 acres with my father in law, but will be getting out of that soon. Anyway, I will be picking up my first BMW the end of next week (can't freakin wait), I researched a crap ton, and read even more, talked to a friend of mine who is a BMW tech for weeks, and finally found what I was lookin for. It is an 03 330ci, alpine white, with 160k on the clock. First things first I want to make sure all maintenance is up to date. I do most all my own mechanic work (I built 3 diesels before this, and have worked on tons of other engines and vehicles, gas and diesel alike). I am planning on doing a cooling system refresh, spark plugs coils etc, timing chain and tensioners, vanos, suspension system refresh, and brake system refresh. The car I'm buying in the last 6 months has had new valve cover gaskets, new alternator, new belt, the guy says "new pulleys", not sure if that means all of them or what, need more info on that, and new coolant tank and coolant flush. With that being said, where do you guys thing I should start on the maintenance?? Ignition system? Timing? Vanos? I know I will end up addressing it all, and probably more, but not sure where to start. What do yall think!?
