2005 M3 CS Owner with a few Qs

Hi all,

Just thought I'd drop a quick message to say hi, as I'm new here. There are a plethora of M3 forums, but this seems to be my favourite when it comes to technical write-ups and advice.

So in short I've just brought a 2005 M3 CS and absolutely love it. I made the shift from Audi, previously I owned a 430BHP Audi S2, which I also loved, but had to sell.

In terms of what I can offer, I built the S2 from the ground up and am very familiar with VAG cars and have a pretty good understanding of mechanics in general. I'm looking forward to getting my head around the BMW and having a tinker here and there. Which brings me nicely to a few questions.

In terms of diagnostic software is there a VAGCOM equivalent which everyone uses and are there any reliable sources to get it from?

Secondly, and slightly sadder, yesterday the Transmission cog came on when I was driving and the car skipped 3rd gear then threw me into neutral, since then the light comes on, but it seems to drive fine.

I've done a few things, so the pump kicks out 70bar (ish) and takes about 1:30 to kick back in, and from what I gather that isn't too bad. It brings up two codes:

35 (053) Hydraulic pressure loss in system

3B (059) Clutch actuation, dynamic

Any ideas?

Additionally it doesn't always seem to start first time, as in the starter won't engage (although this might be user error)

I've had a quick search and read the SMG technical guide that is floating around, but haven't heard of my exact problem, it happened when I was in a bit of traffic and I've heard of temp sensor issues, so thought I would start there?

Turns out this wasn't such a short intro after all.
