I don't know about you guys but this potential shrapnel releasing air-bag that aims at the passenger's face is sort of unnerving?
The letter mentions it only goes off when it detects someone is in the seat. So what about disconnecting the seat presence sensor? I don't transport passengers that often but I was thinking about those who do especially with kids up front!
Nice if it has a single connector for just the seat weight sensor but it's probably part of a multi-pin connector that kills the seat control as well? Set the seat position and disconnect connectors one at a time watching for the seat belt lamp to not come on when the seat is occupied. If someone can sit in the seat, beside the driver when buckled up, and no seat belt warning lamp comes up, you've defeated the sensor - the air-bag is not armed.
