Stuff I make: Racing Sim (relatively finished)

Finally got this thing put together today. I used a spare sheet of 3/4" birch plywood and cobbled together a desk with space for my three xbox 360s.

Drilled some cooling holes in the cabinet

I set this up in the corner of my guest bedroom. I already had a playseat and madcats wheel.

Over the last month I picked up various 32" TVs on the clearance rack at Wallmart. Then painted the desk to match. I had some old computer speakers in the attic I hooked up for sound.

I decided to pitch the madcatz wheel and buy a thrustmaster Ferrari wheel.

This setup requires three copies of Forza 4 and three xbox 360s. I had two Xboxs already so I bought a third on clearance. First run on the new system and the oldest xbox 360 went RRD so I had to buy a second Xbox 360. But since the new Xbox One is out these old 360s are pretty cheap.

Forza 4 is also available on clearance shelves since F5 is out now.

In the corvette C6 at Le Mans.

All in all I put a little over a 1,500 bucks in it. I didn't want to spend more than 1000 on it but the extra xbox and I decided to upgrade the wheel added some costs.

This thing is fckin fun as hell plus my daughter and I can coop GOW or COD and have our own monitors. I connected the xboxs with some crappy router I had in my office which appears to cause some sound issues and inability for the client xboxs to get the cars right on the side monitors. They seem to default to a black VW jetta. I'll have to work on that another time. So far it's pretty cool.

I test drove a Dbox actuator system up in Austin and didn't care for the motion considering how much it costs. So I might add a Buttkicker or wait and see how cheap motion kits get later. I put a few hours on it tonight and for now it's pretty cool at least for my skill level.
