So I've read several threads that solved A/c issues with the following symptoms by replacing the Heater Control Valve:
1. A/c on driver side not on passenger side.
2. The need to have all or at least two levels of vents open (i.e. Floor, Mid, Dash Vent) in order to get cool air.
Having these same symptoms, I replaced my HCV the other day. Before the new install, I looked to see the difference between the two, and the little pistons inside where at different positions. The old one was visible down, the new was visible up. (looking into the small tubes on the HCV -[not sure if that describes it well enough].) However, no change in A/c. I also have a "sippy" sound from the vents when I turn on the A/c. Same scenario with the need to have either the lower, or upper vents on to get cold air. I'm now guessing the "sippy" sound has more to do with it than the failed HCV now that I have a new one installed.
Any ideas where I should look next, or trouble shoot? Indie shop in the future?
Thanks.
