Dear All,
I've been using my 2002 330ci for track purposes only and since the previous two track days, it has been making a strange metal grinding sound. However I cannot ignore it any longer.
It occurs when I step on the gas and shift to third, fourth and fifth gear. I think it also happens in second gear but only when I really step on the gas.
Normal driving conditions don't seem to initiate the sound.
Here is a clip of the sound;

It looks like it comes from the transmission tunnel but it could also be coming from the rear differential.
I've stripped the interior so the inside of the car resonates every sound.
The car has done 278.000km (172k miles)
What do you guys think?
