So I have an AC issue that I cant seem to figure out on my 2002 325i.
Over the past couple of weeks Ive experienced the general fan and air conditioner not working at all in all of my vents. No air whatsoever. This will happen, and then I will leave the car sitting while I go grocery shopping or somewhere else, for a few hours or more, I come back to the car, turn it on, turn the fan and AC on and it works. This never happens while driving, only when I turn on the car for the first time.
The most recent incident happened today. The AC and fan (no air coming out) had not been working the past couple days. I drove somewhere in the morning, came back home, had my dad look at it, and it started working again. After looking at the clutch located in the front of the engine, it was moving as well as the belt right next to it.
The AC was working all day until I parked it to go do some shopping, and when I came back to my car and tried to turn it on, no air again. I left it off and went back home. Let it sit for a couple hours, went back to try it again.
This time, I was a little more patient. I turned on the ignition, and let it sit idle for about 3-4 minutes. Turned on the fan. Waited, no air. Opened the hood to see what was going on, came back in the car, pressed the AC button, still nothing, went to look at the AC clutch to make sure it was moving, and it was. Waited for about 30-40 seconds. As I watched engine I heard the fan turn on. I go back in the car, the ac is blowing cold air.
This is a very unpredictable situation. It works when it wants to it seems. Sometimes itll work after I leave it sitting over night or a day, sometimes it wont. I cant seem to figure it out so Im hoping this description helps anyone. Thank you!
