Purchased a 2002 325i, 5 speed today. For anyone looking to buy, the "buyer's guide" sticky in the e46 area was INVALUABLE. If you don't use it, or something similar, (insert your deity here) help you with purchasing! The pre-purchase inspection by a local shop was critical as well. All in, with the purchase price as well as repair costs of pre-purchase discoveries, we are in a very competent car for a reasonable price - something that can be maintained for a long time.
First time BMW-owner. Long time Acura/ Honda owner, with an Infiniti sprinkled in there, currently with a 2000 Miata for fun. I have been intrigued by BMWs for a long time. The catalyst for purchasing this particular model is that, at the price point and options, these e46 series are really good cars for new drivers, and we will have one in our house soon. Stability control was an absolute must for me, and a manual transmission was a definite plus. So, the e39/e46 BMWs were a natural choice - focused on the 525i / 325i.
Will post pics later - this forum has already been a huge help - looking forward to being part of the community!
