318 se auto touring gear box problem

hi all sorry bit new at this,but wondering if anybody can give me some info why my gearbox(transmission)on the shift down give a heavy jerk from 2nd to 1st,and is it right theres an update avalible.this is my first bmw not had it long kinda putting me of even though its a nice drive other than this problem.thanks
