I have been having some problems with my ZHP where at low RPMs the engine sounds rough and raspy. The low end power feels lacking, so I think it is time for a VANOS rebuild. I want to get the besian systems kit and replace it.
My question is, I recently replaced the Valve Cover Gasket due to oil leaking into the spark plug wells and the car smelling like burning oil all the time. I followed the DIY on here and used an OEM replacement. The repair worked fine, but I am worried that now when I remove the cover to get to the VANOS system it may damage the new gasket. Currently the gasket has maybe 500 miles on it. I wish I had done the VANOS while I was in there, but it didn't occur to me until after.
Can I repair the VANOS seals without damaging the VCG? Also, is there anything else I should do as a while I am in there type of thing?
