2002 bmw me DME (ecu) problems

I'm about to buy an 2002 bmw m3 but is has a DME (ecu) problem and it rides rough. Anyone have any idea if I should not buy the car and/or if this will be a hard fix? The car is a rebuilt title and they at selling it to me for $7500 with 66,000 miles and sadly it has an smg transmition
