Touring owners, check your tailgate strut brackets

When I removed the plastic trim around the tailgate window opening, I found this nastiness.





I bought new bolts and once I drill these out (stripped from corrosion), I will sand, rust-convert, and repaint the brackets and window frame. Hopefully that will buy me some time. I'm not sure why these pieces rusted so much faster than the rest of the car, but it's worth attending to before it spreads.
