I have been doing some research on leather restore/upkeep on car interiors and I'm getting mixed results/answers so I would love if you guys could put in some input.
Removing wrinkles:
Method 1: blow dryer, use high heat to remove wrinkles
my concern is that this dehydrates the leather and causes future issues
Method 2: hydration, either a hot damp rag over the creases or steam cleaner
This seems to make sense to me since high humidity can penetrate the topcoat and moisturize the leather.
Conditioning/restore
Method 1: conditioners, using products like leatherique and griotts
there is a topcoat on BMW interior so the conditioner can't penetrate and actually work
Method 2: gradual hydration, using a damp rag and wipe down the seats daily or every other day
I heard that raising the humidity in the vicinity of the leather will gradually increase its moisture and restore it much like the wrinkle removal
Method 3: applying conditioner to the underside of leather
since there is no topcoat here, does it have better penetration or does the moisture actually get trapped and not dry fully causing mold?
