Could a caliper seize up temporarily?
I was driving my e36 m3 a few days after driving through a bad storm (drove through at least 1 - 2 feet of water) and the entire drive I noticed a burning smell.. So after I got to where I was going, I noticed there was a lot of heat coming from my rear passenger wheel... So I just assumed that the caliper seized and perhaps when I was driving through that dirty storm water some of it managed to get through my brake lines which caused the seized caliper considering the water was pretty damn high..
Anyway.. i take the car to the shop today and they tell me that its completely fine...
Now this has happened a couple of times with my previous cars as well.. I would always get steering wheel vibration and a burning smell/heat from the wheel and then it would go away.. Ultimately it would end up being a seized caliper however
So I was just wondering if calipers do this? Perhaps they seize up and then loosen up and then seize again on and off? Im sure there are some contributing factors that I don't know of..
Thanks!
