I guess I should say this is my first post here, but I've been browsing for a while now. I've tried searching but I couldn't find anything that fits exactly what problems I'm having
I recently got new wheels and tires (Michelin pilot a/s 3s on vmr vb3s) and ever since then I've had some extreme steering wheel shimmy at around 45+ . But the thing is, it doesn't do it ALL the time. Maybe about 75 percent of the time. I've changed tie rods and fcabs and it didn't seem to help much.
Is it possible I received a defect wheel/tire? They are staggered so I can't swap out the rears for the fronts. I've had them balanced twice now and it hasn't fixed anything. I was starting to think bent wheel but seeing as my steering wheel doesn't shimmy all the time around those speeds I'm thinking I could be something else? I don't think it could be my rotors/ calipers because the shimmy seems to settle down or go away when I apply brakes.
Any help would be much appreciated!
