Secondary Air Pump primer

So in the interest of not infuriating any very helpful veterans, I'll begin with full disclosure. I'm working on a fun daily driver with an ESS Ts1. So I've replaced every single piece of rubber on the exterior of the engine with fresh rubber (soon to go at it again with silicone hose). However, I'm stuck on the dang one way valve between the intake and the SAP (technically probably the vacuum control valve, courtesy realoem). No matter what size hose I use on this valve, it continues to leak, and I can't find a clamp small enough to do the job proper. So I'm curious as to how critical of a system the SAP actually is, and what all of its functions are.

After some research it seems it is primarily emissions related. Living in Montana, we have literally zero emissions checks so that would not be an issue. So, does the SAP serve any function beyond cold start quick heat up?

If I were to delete it, what sort of repercussions would I be looking at? Again, emissions checks are literally of zero concern to me, so I'm only curious of effects on engine function beyond emissions.

Thanks guys.
