3.38 LSD - A shout out to RRT and Diffsonline

Just wanted to give some propers to Dan at Diffsonline and to my local shop, RRT.

I took my car to RRT the other day to get my wheels and tires looked at -- turns out I had 2 bent and 1 cracked wheel -- I'd had a blowout on one side and a fun pothole incident on the other side. I bought some refurb wheels from allfactorywheels.com and had RRT mount and balance them. RRT then told me my diff bushings were gone, split through the middle. Since they had to drop the rear end to replace them, I figured now would be the best time to look at perhaps upgrading to a LSD - I've never really liked how aggressive the DSC kills power going around a corner, and I've gotten stuck once or twice in some sandy areas near the beach, and thought I could use it. And hell, I've had this car for 12 years, and there's not a lick of rust on it. Why not go for the extravagance?

So I called up Dan and it turns out someone was selling a brand new diff that they'd just bought from him (he'd built a custom one, but they'd totaled their car). He offered me a great price (still an extravagance), so I took him up on it, and RRT set it up in a day.

Went from a 2.93 to a 3.38 with a helical LSD. A noticeable increase in torque, and a noticeable increase in the usefulness of 5th gear. Even taking a spirited corner around town is more fun. Very happy with the result. The car is more drivable and fun than before. I do kind of wish I had that 6th gear though. Oh well, might as well save my pennies for when I decide to re-engine the car in 10 years :)
