Hi Guys,
I've registered here, because I've got an '02 plate, post-facelift BMW 320d, with I'm guessing the pre-EU4 spec engine and hence turbo with mechanical actuator. I'm no mechanic, but the BMW parts site lists the replacement turbo as the one without
Anyway, the car has 211,000 miles on the clock and was running sweetly, having spent alot of money getting that way, when picking up a new front wing for it (oh the irony), at a roundabout, the car suddenly overheats very quickly (it has not had any problems before), pull off (with heater on to cool it down) temp goes back to normal and hear the metallic screeching - and engine in limp home mode.
So, I love this car to bits, but the quotes to get the turbo repaired are eye-watering so I've come here in a last ditch effort to see if there are any indy garages with a good reputation that can do the work for a good price, or maybe just advise me that even with the turbo repaired I'm in for more trouble and scrapping (which I really don't want to do) is the way to go.
Thanks in advance for your help.
