Remote won't work after replacing gm5 any ideas?

I was having door lock issues and read pretty much everywhere about the GM5 being the problem. I purchased one off eBay and it resolved the issues I was having but now I can't get my original keys to work with it, and the car doesn't lock after I start driving down the road like it used to. I've read so many places about reprogramming by holding unlock, pressing lock 3 times, etc... Yeah, nothing worked. Can anyone help me out here. It's a 2000 323i. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
