Oil Pan issues.

During my last oil change the tech broke the oil drain plug. To make matters worse they used an aftermarket drain plug that stripped the threading. I brought the car to BMW and they indicated I needed to replace the oil pan. The cost for the repair and new OEM parts is about 1,300 dollars. I'm wondering if it might be worth it to by a thread repair kit and try to fix it myself.
