Does anyone in the Forum have the set up tool for pre-positioning the helical Vanos gears which actuate the secondary timing gears? I am in New Zealand and nobody will rent / loan this tool to me. I require the dimensions of the 2 steps, one for the exhaust cam helical actuator and one the other for the inlet actuator. If anyone has the tool I would appreciate it if you could measure the steps from the face of the tool to the recess which the nose of the helical actuator rests against. The exhaust side step should be smaller than the inlet step.
I am an aircraft engineer so know what I'm doing. I have searched Youtube and found several videos which give everything except these dimensions which would enable me to make my own tool. Unfortunately the city I live in doesn't have a BMW dealership so taking the car to them isn't an option.
