Electric fan failure cause radiator to fail?

A local shop replaced my electric fan back in September. Over the last week it has been making some noise after I turn off the car. A couple of days ago I am driving home from a friends house and I feel a vibration in the steering wheel and pull over and pop the hood and see that the fan housing is shaking violently. The next morning I'm driving to that same shop to get the fan looked at when I notice a some smoke coming from the hood and I pull over and find coolant splashed all over the place and the electric fan not even working at all. I'm a quarter mile from the shop so I drop it off and tell them what happened.

Today I get a call from the shop and they say my radiator is leaking and needs to be replaced and the fan is not working which I already knew so that needs to be replaced as well but it's under warranty so I don't need to pay for that. They give me an estimate of $750 for the repair.

My question is: did the electric fan failure cause the radiator to fail or is it coincidental? Would I be able to make the shop pay for the radiator replacement because they installed a faulty part on my car if this is the case?
