So the Wahler thermostat that I installed last March sprung a leak in July, with only about 7000 miles on it. Based on all the lousy Wahler T stats I had intended to replace it with a Behr when the time came... I didn't get a chance. In July I needed to get the car on the road pronto so the only thermostat I could find locally was another Wahler. Hmm...
At the time I returned the leaky Wahler to Pelican and asked them to send me a Behr replacement. I put the Behr on the shelf and kept an eye on the new Wahler. This time leaky Wahler No 2 lasted a little longer, about 10,000 miles but still failed in the exact same place: the little O ring underneath the electrical connector.
Both times I've been lucky enough to spot the leak while the car was in my garage. The new Behr is on there so that should do me for a while.
Strangely, the first two Wahlers (the factory original and its replacement) both lasted well over 60,000 miles but the later models are failing.
