Hello everyone - 1st time posting.
I have a 2004 330ci with 110K miles. A series of maintenance items have come up which will cost more than the car is worth. However, i love my car. Need some advice on what to do.
1 - Lights - wires sheathing to lamps are falling apart causing the wires to touch in places. This of course causes the lights to flicker or go out. I have since taped them up which prevents the problem until a new area starts to fall apart. Dealer recommends replacing the entire light assembly at $1,300 each. They do not sell the wiring kit to replace the wires.
2. Power steering hose leaking. Looks like from the clamp. Mechanic recommends replacing the hose too.
3. oil leak at the gasket. Mechanic said its a $1k job to remove and reseal.
4. Mechanic said the rear shocks are shot and need replacing. Recommends replacing all 4.
I also need to do the rear brakes.
Given all the costs involved, does it make sense to keep the car. I want to fix it however the mechanic (not with the BMW dealer) said at the current age of the car, other issues will start to come up and the car will constantly need to be fixed/serviced. He actually wants to buy it from me for $3-4k.
