I bought a Mechunik strut bar for non-m e46's on the classifieds recently. I went to install and the fitment didn't seem right. I've attached two pictures from my install attempt and one of the strut bar itself.
In the side shot you can see how the plate sits on top of the tower. In the top view picture you can see all the bolts are not all parallel, they are pointing off in different directions. Is this normal or a sign of mushroomed towers?
I have a prefacelift 330i and I've read that these cars have three "bumps" on the strut tower which isn't the case in facelifted models. Could it be that this bar is not designed to work with these?
