Hello there, i'm Themba from Tembisa(Kempton park), South Africa. My project to rebuild this neglected 2001 320d (M47engine)has suffered a setback and i hope to get it back on track here. Long story short, earlier in jan this year i got lost and ran out of gas, put in 5litres to get to the nearest filling station and then the DDE light started staying on permanently every time i switch on the ignition. The car was still running fine though. This past weekend as i was driving the car it suddenly started idling rough, puffed out black exhaust smoke and engine cut out. Towed it to my garage, opened the hood and found that one of the wires(red one) connecting to the Fuel Injectors pressure sensor had snapped. Soldered it back and tried to start, now the car cranks but wont start. Upon investigating the fuel supply system i noticed diesel pressure is ok up to after the diesel filter that is located under the passenger side of the car. I'm still waiting for my Inpa cable that I ordered on bid or buy.l.
How can i test if the High Pressure Diesel Pump is working or not in the meantime.
