I just finished doing a stage 3 vanos rebuild on my 2005 325I. I was a little apprehensive but I have been working on my own vehicles for 42 years. So I decided to just go slow, be careful, and go for it. I had no vanos rattle but didn't want to take a chance, so I purchased a stage 3 kit from I6Motorworks.com. Their kit is very complete, organized, and priced very well. I couldn't be more happy with the kit. The hardest part of the process was getting the fan off, I have had it off before, so I have know idea why it was so tight this time. The repair took a total of about 6 hours being careful and cleaning everything along the way.
The results are not mind blowing, but certainly noticeable. Idle quality is definitely better, low end torque is improved and city fuel economy has improved nearly 25 percent. Overall I would recommend it.
