Bad k bus read to cause no power to fuel pump

I have an 03 bmw 325i. I thought I had a bad fuel pump because the car would crank but wouldn't start. I have replaced the fuel pump, the relay, and all of the fuses. Still won't start. Had my brother hook up his scan/diagnostic machine and we determined that there was a no communication between the dme and a sensor that cuts off power to the fuel pump and instrument cluster. Where should this sensor be at in the car?
