If you've seen my previous thread i've been chasing the p0171/p0174 codes, I think I solved it but last night I was left stranded with my family and a newborn in the car.
During my quest I recently replaced my fuel pump (along with a bunch of pm items). I drove the car for a day, about 30 miles, and it started and ran fine.
Yesterday on my way to the store she wouldn't accelerate for a moment when I stepped hard on the gas. I let off then she drove fine again, drove normal all day after that. Last night I was crusing at about 60mph (had been driving for 30 miles) and the car just shut off completely. No warning, no sputter, dash lit up and the car was off. I coasted to the side of the road and tried to start it up over and over without any luck. I tried for about 15 minutes before calling a tow. It was cranking but wouldn't turn over. I was on a busy road and had to have it towed back to my place.
When the tow driver put it in my garage I got in and it started right up. I drove it around the block and it was as if nothing had happened, very frustrating.
My guess is perhaps I bought a bad fuel pump? I'm putting the old one in tomorrow morning to see what happens but I was just confused that this issue seeming disappeared and it never threw a code. Sound like a bad pump? I'll embarrassingly admit I bought a new but cheaper pump.

Would a bad fuel pump throw a code?
