So I just did a TON of work to my car. I went a little nuts to be honest.
Tonight I drove it to town - about 15 minutes away on the twisties, grabbed a celebratory double IPA and came back via a backup route.
First drive notes:
I need to tighten the header studs, I have a leak up there. It got quieter once it warmed up a bit but still...
I totally forgot to put the washer fluid reservoir back in. Doh.
The new diffs made the car a bit quicker but the driveline feels fine.
I tossed in a UUC evo3 short shifter, it feels good but I may need to shorten the stick a bit. It feels tall which is weird since I added a zhp knob and the short shifter.
My alignment is totally wacked. Not a surprise but I think I'll toe it in a bit before going down the canyon for the alignment. (I'd like to not ruin the tires.)
Water temp stayed good, my diy thermostat seems good for now!
Steering with the new pump (from a 1999 M3/S52) feels perfect. It was a hair too easy before and now it takes just a bit more effort. I went with that pump since it has threaded input and output ports. The reduced pressure makes it have a bit more road feel.
The brakes feel awesome. They are tight. The new EBC yellow stuff pads stop nicely and they seemed to bed in well. I worked them over pretty well, but not caught on fire well. :)
The freaking AC fan still squeaks. I think I'm going to have to pull the dash at some point and replace the housing under there. Sigh.
No oil pressure issues, but my missing temp sensor does annoy the car. That'll be fixed once I machine up the new adapter.
Finally, I got ABS lights after a short drive. This is probably from my diff swap. There was a CEL too, but probably due to the missing secondary O2 sensors after my header install.
