So, here's one that has me baffled..:confused:
My low mileage (105,000) 2003 E46 Coupe has a really light tap coming from the motor's lower left front....only at idle...hot or cold...at what seems to be 1/4 crankshaft speed. All pulleys, tensioners and belts are fresh. By fresh, I mean less than an hour old. Actually I replaced everything while doing the pesky oil filter housing leak repair..but the noise has been there seemingly forever. So you can imagine my surprise at still hearing it at start-up. Could the PS pump be the culprit..? The sound seems to diminish with steering input..again, only at idle speed..600rpm., but that could just be wishful thinking on my part.
Needless to say, any thoughts and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated...
