Just got 3.38 diff to replace the 2.93 on my 330ci... flanges don't fit??

Just got this diff and while the casing looks a little different, the mounting locations look identical.

The axle flanges however are smaller and the driveshaft flange is shorter. Is this a no starter? Or can I just transfer the flanges?

I thought this was a pretty common mod so I'm a bit surprised. I thought it would bolt right up.

Any input appreciated!
