Correct bulb type for replacement turn signal socket on e46 BMW 323i

I own a 2000 BMW 323i. Recently I had been getting an intermittent turn signal warning on my dash due to the left blinker....as well as the fast blinker indicator when the turn signal was engaged...eventually the right started as well. After pulling out the signal lenses and checking the sockets....the contacts on the bulb have started to melt and the the socket was corroded & contact was starting to warp downward. So I ordered OES replacements "genuine BMW part# 63 13 8 380 211 . to be exact. My question is what is the correct bulb for this replacement socket? I've read several post on here going back and forth between 1156/7506. I know the manufacturer specified is the 7506LL for the turn signals, for the stock connector.

My issue is, I've read several reviews/forum posts that say this new OES replacement is a more improved product than the original socket that was stock (I can't find any offical source that states this). Not to mention that w/ this part most of the people selling it either state the 1156 is the bulb to use or they are selling it along w/ the socket on ebay part warehouse sites.

So I am thoroughly confused. I know there is a wattage difference between 1156(27W)/7506(25w)...but then looking at the nickel bases, i see both of them have P21W 12V21W....so if they are 27/25W bulbs...why is 12V21W etched on the bases? I've also read one forum posts that state some 1156's are of the 21W variety and not 27W. Not sure if that's true or not, anyone here know if there is any truth to that statement?

Also in an older post on these forums someone posted that the wattage the socket is rated for is etched on the socket, but on both the stock and replacement socket all that is etched is P21W.

I'm just worried eventually i might be melting the sockets/wiring, since that's what I read happens when you have a higher wattage bulb in a lower rated socket. So is there any truth to the OES socket being beefed up from the stock socket? And would it make a difference it was actually a higher-rated socket w/ my older model BMW wiring? I'm thinking the wiring might be an issue but i'm not an electrical expert.

I ended up buying the replacement sockets that were sold w/ 1156 bulbs as a package deal...but i'm wondering if I should go to an autozone and get the 7506LL bulbs instead, any thoughts?
