Hello everyone,
First and foremost I'd like to say hi to everyone and introduce myself. I have recently bought a new to me 2001 330i that I have slowly brought back to life so it can hopefully become a commuter car. I have followed many postings on this site as an observer and have learned a lot from you guys so already I am very thankful for this site and for all of you! :)
The reason I am posting is because I have been battling a persistent p1192 code. I have done several smoke tests on the engine and fuel system and have repaired various leaks in vacuum hoses, and boots. I even replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor (the original still looked good and I didn't have a code related to it but thought that would help). As of last week after repairing the last vacuum leak and driving the car the code came back!!
I've read every post I can find on the internet regarding this code and have done everything recommended except the DME re-flash. A few postings around this and other forums mention a TSB from BMW North America that says a program re-flash is the only solution to the various 02 sensor faults including BMW fault code 225 (which happens to be p1192).
Has anyone already done this and can testify (so to speak) that this is a solution that will keep this code from coming back?
I've taken my car in and had it re-flashed to the latest program version that was available and havent had a chance to drive it more than a few miles so I dont know if this will solve the problem. After plugging in my scanner after driving it back from the shop it shows no pending codes which is a real positive sign! I just want to see if anyone else has taken the re-program route or some other successful route of addressing this fault code!
Other than having this code come up the car drives completely fine. No sputtering, no loss of power, nothing out of the ordinary.
Any information is really greatly appreciated! Thank you guys!
