Hey guys,
My name is Jacob. Grew up around BMWs, Audis, Land Rovers. My first car was an 89 Mercedes 300SE. Ive since had a 93 Thunderbird (super low miles, and was actually actually a decent ride, but I hated it); while I had that I bought my project car, a 71 Datsun 510 Wagon, more on that later, and I still have it. Then it was a 2001 Jetta, Daily drove the 510 for awhile, crashed it, and unfortunately drove a 95 Saturn SC1 which I got for $600 for awhile, but ended with its death, and my search for a new car.
I was in the market to buy a car, and stumbled across a 2002 325iT. I was sorta bummed to find it was an automatic, but it was clean, a decent price, and was at 124k miles. Plus I already have a project car/go fast car, I dont need two... I test drove the car, did some research, and decided I needed an E46 in my life. Papers are signed, and I take delivery of the car this week, assuming the car passes emissions, which since there is no dash light it will.
Everything on the car works. Well everything I could think to test. LCA bushings are probably shot. And Im planning on overhauling the Cooling system asap. Color is Steel Grey Metallic, interior is the Gray Leather (not leatherette).
What I know, the car does not have a single option package, but it still has a decent amount of options:
S205A Automatic transmission
S210A Dynamic stability control
S240A Steering wheel, leather
S249A Multifunction f steering wheel
S386A Roof railing
S403A Glass roof, electrical
S431A Interior mirror with automatic-dip
S438A Fine wood trim
S441A Smoker package
S459A Seat adjustment, electric, with memory
S473A Armrest front
S494A Seat heating driver/passenger
S520A Fog lights
S522A Xenon Light
S534A Automatic air conditioning
S674A Hi-Fi system Harman Kardon
I dont have any decent pictures of the car to post, so Ill hold off until I get the car.
About me. Im 25. Live in Hillsboro OR, which is in the Portland Metro Area in Oregon. I grew up with a love of cars. I also started schooling for mechanical engineering, but left after deciding school wasnt my cup of tea (not the rules and regulations, but the way I was being taught). I have since started at a machine shop, where my boss says "I see a lot in you," and "I have very high expectations of you." Well shoot, better learn all that I can. My goal is to get into CNC Programming. I am an Admin/Mod on NWDatsuns.com (I set up the site, provide the technical support, and rarely moderate).
Onto my project car. My 71 Datsun 510 Wagon. I bought this car in August of 09. It has traveled the states (registered in 4 different states going so far as New York). Who knows how many miles as it only has a 5 digit odometer, and I have since replaced that... This car has taught me a lot. I went from barely knowing how to do an oil change, to rebuilding my motor (rings/bearings) and transmission in my garage, and even repainting the car. I dont think there is a single nut or bolt I havent touched on the car, every single wear item has been replaced. It was reliable, got decent mileage, brought me a smile, and I couldnt go anywhere without someone stopping me and asking me questions. Then one day, I was driving too fast, and I am not sure what happened next, but I clearly didnt even turn for the corner ahead, nailed a curb flew, and hit a guard rail. I walked out without a single injury. So that car is in the garage now and has been. Frame is straightened. Currently it is undergoing a motor swap (but this BMW just ate my funds for now...). Its receiving a CA18DET out of a S13 (we didnt get the motor in the states). Its lightweight, makes 170hp stock at 7lbs of boost. Motor is currently torn down, as I need to buy a set of Forged Pistons for it. The car has highly modified E30 projector lights, and a pair of 2002 Flag Mirrors.
Anyways onto pictures, because that was way too much text.
