Getting stuck in neutral?

Here is a weird one I can't show you guys the problem since the weather has been cold and nice this only happens when it's hot outside here is the question. While I'm driving, the car will go to neutral and when I stop for awhile the car will go back to first gear, this is not a big problem now but I don't want it to turn into an even bigger problem what do you think it could be?
