Door lock actuator

I finally got around to replacing the driver side door lock actuator on 01 330ci. The old one would not work with the fob, had to use key in cylinder. I had bought a used one awhile back. I just finished the pita job and now when I plug it in nothing happens even to passenger side. Also neither will work when I try and unlock from button inside on the console. If I unplug it then at least the fob and inside button will work for the driver side. Now when using the key in the driver door cylinder it is hard to turn and nothing happens. So, have I got something wrong, the used one is no good???
