CDs in CD Changer are not being read (Not spinning)

I have the 6 slot cd changer in my E46 compact. No discs error comes up and goes away. This time I did some research and read about using silicone spray on some of the gears which have been lacking lubrication. Took it apart, sprayed conservatively and upon inspection the slots are perfectly changing from one to another but none of the discs are spinning. (The amount of time the disc is being checked is the same as an empty tray) Not being recognised? Have tried commercial & burned cds. Any information would be appreciated - please and thank you.
