Issue with brand new PA Soft reader

Hi friends,



I just received my brand new PA soft reader yesterday in the mail and I am having some weird issues with it and I hope somebody can help me out here.



I installed the software+drivers following the instructions here:

When I launch the software, I get the "Put your switch to ON position and click continue" message and when I do so, the software tries to connect (the amber LED on the unit is solid and the green LED flickers) and I get a "Unable to connect to IKE" followed by "Unable to connect to EWS" error message.



I have tried this on a Windows 7 (64 bit) and Windows 8.1 (64 bit) machine and with 2 different cars (my 2004 330i and my buddy's 2005 ZHP convertible) and its the same on both the cars.



The weird thing is that the very first time I plugged the reader in and used the software, it did show my vehicle info (VIN etc) and it scanned all the modules and showed me the errors etc. However, after that one time, it has refused to work.



Can anybody shed some light here before I assume that the module is a lemon? Oh BTW, I bought it from here:

And the mini CD that came with it was cracked so I downloaded the software from their website (not from the official BMW scanner website). Thanks.
