Headlight lense removal affect gasket?

I have an 01 325ci I'd like to take off the headlight lense and clean the inside out but I'm afraid they will leak then ounce I take them apart. Any input? I'm sure someone has done this already. I saw plenty of diy on the lenses but nothing about it then leaking.
