Hi,
My car is a sport package that came with 18x8.5 rims in the rear and 18x8 in the front.
It has sports suspension.
Got some pretty style 32 wheels:

Problem is both my rears have developed cracks on the inner lip :(
One hairline crack on each wheel.
Might have the cracks repaired if it's economical. Otherwise I'm looking at getting some new wheels.
I mentioned to my mechanic that I might go for 17s, he said this could ruin the handling because my suspension is set up for the wheels I have so I should stick to the exact same spec wheels.
What kind of effects will this have? I can understand balance being affected if I go for non-staggered but I'm finding it hard to imaging how going from 18 to 17 will affect it.
For example if I go for some E90 wheels that are 17inch but the same width as my current ones could I be ok?
I absolutely love my current wheels but they are hard to find and expensive, and 18s make for expensive tyres.
