Cerium oxide for windshield glass

Hi guys, i purchased a cerium oxide kit from ebay that comes with the powder and some attachments to a rotary drill. I used it for about 30 mins on one half of the windshield thinking it would remove the fine scratches caused by the wiper blades after around 12 yrs, but it actually made it worse! I feel like it has put more scratches and they even give off a glare when the midday sun just hits in the right angle so visibility is actually worse than before. I don't want to replace my glass because it is the original one still. So I don't know if I done anything wrong or what the experince is of other people who done it successfully before. [emoji24]
